UCLEF Set Out Excellent Books Publication Plan

UCLEF will be dedicated to building up a great platform for communication between China and the United States on legal publications. Excellent original or translated works may be recommended and sponsored by UCLEF upon authors' applications, and may be published and released by China Law Press.

Publication Sponsorship Program: for excellent original or translated works. Such original or translated legal academic or law application works or the works concerning related areas as considered having the feature of high creativity, upon the evaluation and approval by the expert panel of UCLEF, may obtain the sponsorship of UCLEF for publication. This program focuses on the legal academic works that have some value and that are for a limited market. It also includes certain organization publications and government-sponsored publications.

Publication Recommendation Program: For excellent original works. Upon the evaluation of the expert panel of UCLEF, such legal academic or law application works or the works concerning the related areas as considered having a high value to be published can obtain the recommendation of UCLEF to China Law Press for publication. This program concentrates on those works generating significant social influences, but having a market that only just breaks even.

Publication Design Program: For excellent original works. Such legal academic or law application works or the works concerning the related areas whose publication is designed by UCLEF Project Group or jointly designed by UCLEF and the authors, upon the evaluation of China Law Press, can be regarded as Publication Design Program, and be supported or assisted by the expert panel of UCLEF.

This program concentrates on such works with a promising market. Nonetheless, due to the investment risk, the publisher needs to obtain and consider a comprehensive evaluation on such works from its R&D, marketing, and publishing groups and book stores or related marketing channels, before it decides to publish such works.

The above programs are not limited to legal professional works, and may include the works of multiple areas relating or connecting to legal spectrum. There's no limitation on the subject of the work either. It can be the academic or practice research, or relates to documentaries or fictions. Publication of all such works as sponsored, recommended or designed by UCLEF will be marked with UCLEF Recommendation, Sponsorship, or Design upon the authorization of the UCLEF.

How to Apply:

1. Criteria:
(1) Application for the sponsorship or the recommendation for the publication of the original works can only be made when 80% of the whole manuscript has been completed;
(2) Application for the sponsorship or recommendation for the publication of the translated works can only be made after the conclusion and execution of the Chinese version introduction contract;
(3) Publication Design Program can be applied for by submission of specific design proposals.

2. Application materials: (Application materials will not be returned in principle, and applicants are recommended to retain the copies or duplicates for themselves.)
(1) Applicant resume: include basic personal information, education background, working experience and the published works;
(2) The preface or recommend preface, table of content (at least to the section level), references (indicating the sources and dates of the publications), recommendations or remarks from experts on the value of the works.

Qualified application materials will be initially reviewed and considered by UCLEF experts. The applicants whose applications have passed such initial review and consideration will be contacted by UCLEF to provide additional materials. UCLEF will pass the works of such applicants to China Law Press for further evaluation and publication approval. For such works that have been approved by the China Law Press to be published, the authors and China Law Press will execute the publication agreement.
